Did you make a New Year's Resolution to get healthier this year? If you did, then I hope that you're sticking to it! If not, then I hope that this post serves you with some inspiration on how you could get back on track or possibly change the way that you approach your health and wellness goals so that it's easier for you to stay motivated! See my blog post on the COR Method to help you specifically achieve your fitness goals.

I get a lot of questions about my ability to stay committed to my diet and exercise routines so I thought I'd share some insight from my personal experience. A lot of people say that being healthy is a lot of work, but it doesn't have to be. In order to develop good habits or to make positive changes in your life, it's important that you do your research so that you're prepared with a successful game plan so that you don't get discouraged and could stay on track. Staying focused takes time and a lot of dedication so it's also very important that you approach making lifestyle changes with the right mindset. Don't get me wrong though because it wasn't always easy for me. At first, it was actually quite overwhelming when I decided to pursue a healthier lifestyle because there was so much for me to learn. At that time, I was working out regularly for years, but I didn't focus very much on my nutrition and would restrict calories, which is 100% NOT what you should EVER do. I spent a lot of time acquiring more knowledge about nutrition and exercise so with more research, time, and dedication it definitely became a lot more effortless for me. After about three months, I finally started to see the results that I was looking for both physically and psychologically so I knew that I had to keep going. Today, living a healthy life is just a part of my lifestyle, something that I am passionate about, and also a huge part of my identity.

I like to refer to diet and exercise goals as "lifestyle changes" because that's what they should be. Setting goals to get healthy shouldn't just be short-term because having that mindset could make it more difficult to stay committed to a new diet or exercise regimen. However, it is important to also set milestones or to make smaller goals along the way in order to track your progress. This typically helps with staying motivated because sometimes the end goal may seem a little out of reach, which could definitely get discouraging. My advice is to set 21 day goals where you take measurements and do a mental and physical inventory to see how you feel after three weeks of eating healthier and working out regularly. After 21 days you should hopefully see and/or feel the results, which should help you stay on track so that you could continue to work towards long-term health and wellness goals or maybe even pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

I personally enjoy and look forward to shopping for healthy groceries, planning workouts, and preparing healthy meals every week. See my Food for Thought post for more information. My hope is that you feel more inspired to become healthier after reading this post and to use the tools that worked for me: goal setting, research, preparation, proper mindset, and tracking progress. A great tool that I recommend fir tracking your progress and holding you accountable is MyFitnessPal. If you'd like further insight or have any specific questions on planning or anything at all feel free to reach out because I am more than happy to help out!

Stay healthy!
